A Virtual Circle #'s 1-6. Unfortunately ZUM! does not have a sample image at present. |

This is a tale of Virtual Reality, a conspiracy, Heaven and Earth, believers and unbelievers. The tale is interesting, (if not completely original) and well timed. I wanted to read more. It managed to touch a lot of subjects without boring the Captain Pugwash Y-fronts off me. Surprisingly light reading. At first I wasn't sure what to make of Patrick's sketchy art. It won't be everyone's taste but I found that it grew on me! There are some very nice touches along the way, but also some rather dodgy 'scribbles'. The series felt quite smooth until #6 which suffers from a delay in production of a year or more. Patrick explains this himself in the editorial and as most small pressers know, this cannot be helped. Unfortunately the gap has interrupted the comics flow. I'm not sure if the year's delay was purely the printing or the actual writing/art, but the good timing in the previous five issues have been lost. Fortunately the sixth issue is not all-bad! The art is easier on the eye and more confident. Over all, not too bad. I feel that the series could have done with an extra issue or two. Mainly something else to ease the ending in. Worth a look. Scruff. |
