Dalton Sharpe's The Remnants no4 is a
terrific
piece of work! Between bursts of insane Ice Hockey mayhem, Dalton manages bring to life a small, run down Canadian town & it's inhabitants. The Hockey team itself is full of has-beens, & never-will-be's — Remnants; whose sole motivation seems to be that weekly brawl on the ice!! In it's multiple character structure; in it's humour & nuttiness; in it's essential truthfulness, it shares a lot in spirit with The Simpsons, but Dalton's
terrific
grasp of fast paced writing and cartooning; by turns funny, touching, and insane; makes sure this is very much his own take on the world. Its
beautifully
illustrated, and totally packed with ideas and excitement, gags and tears in every one of it's 64 pages!! I loved it!!
